De retour à la Coume ...

So we arrive at really the last of our blog. Anna and myself were able to catch a flight out from Trevandrum, near the southern most tip of India with two quick changes to Toulouse. We were scooped up at the airport and taken directly to the hospital where we were met by all the family. Most of them had been there since the beginning. We were able to speak to Ludo although he couldn't answer, We are convinced on a certain level he heard.

I am sorry to have to write though  that Ludo has left us. 

 

Words, there are none.

 

Our fight now is to put all our energies into supporting Seren, Ayla-Meije, Esteban and Cellie
There is some comfort  in our sadness, there is eternal joy for other families. Seren and Frank, Ludo's twin brother, followed Ludo's wish  that all his organs that could be saved be donated We were informed by the hospital that they were able to use them all!  Thank you Ludo for what you have done. Four people's lives were saved and one patient will be able to see again, another has a new heart! The amount of emails, texts and telephone calls are such that it is impossible to respond individually to each person. We can only thank you all for your incredible support for, Seren and family. I just can't write what my heart is telling me but I think you all understand.........Thank you all so much!

People have asked if they could send flowers or what they could do to help. We are putting in place a team of people to finish off the house Ludo was so close to finishing. I must point out that the family spent the night of Christmas eve together with matresses spread on the floor in one of the finished rooms. How wonderful was that?  As Seren will need money to finish off the house, and to live, it is better to give money rather than send flowers at this moment. We have set up an account and you'll find the link at the end of this letter.

When Ludo first got ill he asked Anna and myself not to come home but to finish the trip that he would have loved to do with us. Following us, he said, would give him so much energy and pleasure. We will carry Ludo very deep in our hearts on our next trip. South India and Sri Lanka were a challenge that we couldn't finish, but there will be more, we'll keep you all in the loop!

There is a gathering of people at the mairie in Taurize at 1400 on Wednesday, 21 January. Afterwards we will walk to the cemetery followed by a gathering at the village hall. For those who want to bring something, bring some finger food and something to drink. Weather permitting bring candles, if weather is not permitting bring the candles and we'll think of something. Umbrellas??? We'll also have a box for people that want to leave something but chose not to do it on line. Dresscode : colourful !

Donc, nous arrivons à ce qui est vraiment le dernier article de notre blog. Anna et moi avons pu obtenir un vol partant de Trevandrum, près de la partie la plus au sud de l'Inde, avec 2 changements rapides, jusqu'à Toulouse. Nous avons été recueillis à l'aéroport et amenés directement à l'hôpital, où toute la famille nous attendait. La plupart d'entre eux étaient là depuis le début. Nous avons pu parler à Ludo bien qu'il ne puisse pas répondre. Quelque part, nous sommes convaincus qu'il a entendu.

Je ne trouve pas de mots.

Maintenant, notre combat est de mettre toute nos énergies à soutenir Seren, Ayla-Meije, Esteban et Cellie. Dans notre tristesse, il y a un peu de réconfort, il y a la joie éternelle dans d'autres familles. Seren et Franck, le frère jumeau de Ludo, ont suivi le désir de Ludo qui souhaitait que tous ses organes épargnés soient donnés. L'hôpital nous a informés qu'ils avaient tous pu être utilisés! Merci Ludo pour ce que tu as fait. Les vies de quatre personnes ont été sauvées, un patient pourra retrouver la vue, un autre a un nouveau cœur!

Le nombre de mails, textos, et coups de téléphone a été tel qu'il est impossible de répondre à chacun personnellement. Nous ne pouvons que vous remercier pour votre soutien incroyable à Seren et sa famille. Je n'arrive pas à écrire ce que mon cœur me dit, mais je pense que vous comprenez tous... Un immense merci à tous!

Les gens ont demandé s'ils pouvaient envoyer des fleurs, voulaient savoir ce qu'ils pouvaient faire pour aider. On met en place une équipe de personnes pour finir la maison que Ludo était sur le point d'achever. Je veux ajouter que la famille y avait passé la nuit de Noël sur des matelas étalés sur le sol dans l'une des pièces terminées. C'était pas fantastique? Comme Seren aura besoin d'argent pour finir la maison et pour vivre, il vaut mieux donner de l'argent qu'envoyer des fleurs en ce moment. Nous avons mis en place un compte et vous trouverez le lien à la fin de cette lettre.

Au début, quand Ludo est tombé malade, il nous a demandé, à Anna et moi, de ne pas revenir, mais de terminer le voyage qu'il aurait tant aimé faire avec nous. Nous suivre, avait-il dit, lui donnerait tant d'énergie et de plaisir. Ludo nous accompagnera au plus profond de nos cœurs lors de notre prochain voyage. L'Inde du Sud et le Sri Lanka, c'est un défi que nous n'avons pas pu relever jusqu'au bout, mais il y en aura d'autres, et on vous tiendra tous au courant!

Il y a un rassemblement à la mairie de Taurize à 14h ce mercredi 21 janvier. Après, nous marcherons jusqu'au cimetière puis nous nous réunirons dans la salle communale. Pour ceux qui souhaitent apporter quelque chose, apportez des amuse-gueules qui se mangent à la main et des boissons. Si le temps le permet, apportez des bougies, si le temps ne le permet pas, apportez des bougies et on trouvera bien une idée. Des parapluies??? Il y aura aussi une boite pour les gens qui veulent laisser de l'argent mais ne souhaitent pas le faire en ligne.

Venez habillés avec plein de couleurs...
